Has a little more of a hip hop vibe but a good one to get the motor running early in the am on your drive in. I am more of a lyrics kinda guy over music type but found this one to be a good get that blood flowing jam.

There’s oddly a lot of debate on the internet about My Demons by Starset. I did some research and found that the band is not outwardly Christian, but I feel as though Christ has always spoken to me through this song. After all…He can use ANYTHING for our betterment.

For me this song talks about being overcome with inner demons and calling out to God for help. We all have our own demons to deal with, and I hope this song does for you what it does for me! It fires me up for God knowing my demons will not win. They will not overtake me. I will give my control to God and call to Him and WITHOUT FAIL He will be there for fight for me. It reminds me that we are strong IN CHRIST. When we try to take on our demons ourselves, we fail. Failure is not an option when Christ is on our side.

<div>I am a fan of Thousand Foot Krutch. I saw them live in Tennessee a few years ago on accident. It’s a Little Rock a little hip hop. </div><div>

    Ashes to New- Forgotten

Awesome jam! These guys are not so much of a Christian group but the lyrics lead me to the struggles we all go through which ultimately points to Christ!

    “Forgotten”

    (Six feet from the bottom
    I’m drowning in the water
Will I reach the air that keeps me here?
    Or will I be forgotten?)

Will I sink or will I swim if I can’t stand?
Drifting farther all alone in the ocean
I can see the end, will I breathe again
Or wash away like a footprint in the sand?
I’m still fighting but the current carries me away
I try to surface but I’m caught beneath the waves
I’m slipping further, I’m sinking under

I close my eyes, frozen inside of my mind
    I know I swim and I live, I know I don’t and I die
I’m hoping that I survive ’cause at this moment in life
I got the shiver within that’s growing colder with time

    Six feet from the bottom
    I’m drowning in the water
Will I reach the air that keeps me here
    Or will I be forgotten?

I feel the air leave my lungs as I sink below
Falling faster as I’m dragged into the undertow
I’m losing hope and I’m growing cold
Holding on when I feel like letting go
I keep pretending that someday I’m gonna make it out
Thinking heavy that’s what always seems to pull me down
I’m slipping further, I’m sinking under

I see the sky, I’m freezing barely alive
I feel the cold in my bones, alone preparing goodbyes
I know the air in the night, I know it’s stereotypes
I see it flowing like an ocean with my very own eyes

    Six feet from the bottom
    I’m drowning in the water
Will I reach the air that keeps me here
    Or will I be forgotten?

    Every inch is a battle
    Every breath is a war
    Every minute’s a struggle
    I can’t fight this anymore

    (Six feet from the bottom
    I’m drowning in the water)

    Six feet from the bottom
    I’m drowning in the water
Will I reach the air that keeps me here
    Or will I be forgotten?

    Be forgotten
    Will I be forgotten?
Will I reach the air that keeps me here
    Or will I be forgotten?

For Today is one of my go-to’s when I’m lifting. It’s a shame they are no longer together. Their lead singer (Mattie Montgomery) is a minister in TN. “Let my name be feared at the gates of hell as I exalt the Savior”…always gets me pumped up.

    Powerful lyrics!

    https://youtu.be/mx4bbq5_PQc

From Songfacts: Pop Evil lead singer Leigh Kakaty was dealing with some issues with his father when he wrote this with the songwriter David Bassett. The title “Monster You Made” implies it is a vituperative attack on the man who made him, but the song is actually more of a tribute to Kakaty’s dad and an effort to look inside himself to take control of his life and move in a positive direction.

Kakaty was very close to his father, who died in 2011 while they were working on the War of Angels album. His parents came to America from India and gave Leigh the opportunity to do what he loved, supporting his decision to become a rock singer.

In our 2015 interview with Kakaty, he said of writing this song: “That was my first step in trying to overcome the loss of my dad, but it’s taken about two years to finally find peace. The success of that song, and to see the fans embrace that song and have it become a part of their healing, really helped in a cool, weird way. It helped me recover. I was always terrified to play that song on stage live, because I don’t want to think about that. But now, having it be successful, and the song having done what it’s done, it’s been very instrumental to my healing.”

The song is about being responsible for your actions and your well-being even when times get tough. Leigh Kakaty told us: “We got into this thing to make a difference, and to help. It wasn’t just writing a bunch of words that sounded cool together to get some high fives with your buddies. We want to make a difference, and we want to write songs that could be a part of people’s lives and stand the test of time.

‘Monster You Made’ was a reflection of that: ‘Take a good look in the mirror. Do you still recognize me, or are you still that monster and living with those demons?’ It was like, put the negative away.”
