Spontaneity

This morning I woke up at about 2 am and was unable to go back to sleep.  I decided to get up, take a bath, and do a little reading, hoping that would do the trick in getting me back to sleep.  My girlfriend and I read relationship/spiritual/self-improvement books together quite often.  We just started a new one titled, What did you Expect? by Paul Tripp.  Up to this point, I have only started into the first chapter when I read something that made my brain think in overdrive.  It read, “You and I never know for sure what is coming next.  Think about it; your life has not worked according to your plan.  You could not have written yourself into your present situation twenty years ago.  Last week didn’t work according to your plan.  Today won’t work according to your plan.”  Do you believe there is truth to this?  I certainly think so.  The point of the above later explained in the book is that we deal with the unexpected daily.  BUT, is this a bad thing?  Do we want a road map of where our lives are going?  I know for me, where I envisioned my life 20 years ago is nowhere, where it is today.  And thank God for that!  I believe that our brains cannot conceive the greatness, the pain, and the obstacles that we must face to become who we are as humans.  This does not mean that we cannot be prepared for what curveball is thrown at us next.  We know that our choices and our decisions help determine the course of our path.  I say bring on the curveballs, twists and turns, and anything else that pushes me towards where I am supposed to be.  I know that I cannot pave my path alone; I need God’s direction. SO, WHAT’S NEXT?!?!

What are you thoughts?  Do you believe in what this book points out?  What is your relatable experience to this?

True…but I am thanking God for that. HE has lead me on a heck of a ride so far. Can’t wait to see what he has in store next.
